"Somehow, the sunset has found Robert Redford." He was my first Hollywood crush, the star of some of my most beloved films (1973's "The Way We Were" and 1985's "Out of Africa"), and is the first of my "Top 5 Favorite New Hollywood Actors" to pass away.
Yes, Robert Redford, the acclaimed actor, the Oscar-winning director, the father of independent cinema (Sundance), the environmental activist, and quite possibly the most respected person in global cinema still living, is no longer living anymore. He left us on September 16th at 89 years old.
Saying goodbye this month was tough. I didn't see this one coming. Even if I had, I dare say the pain would still have been great. RIP, Hubbell Gardiner, that dreamy, romantic "The Way We Were" character that started it all for me. "Mem'ries..." I will always remember your light, and this "in memoriam" Flickside "The Toast" tribute article. Link below.
